QBL Womens Transaction: Gold Coast sign Nadeen Payne

Gold Coast make a big splash in QBL offseason transactions with the signing of Nadeen Payne. Last season Payne averaged 20.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 35.1 minutes per game for the Northside Wizards , earning her QBL All-team honours. Payne also has won the QBL Youth Player of the Year in three separate occasions (2012, 2013 and 2015). Payne just finished her season in the WNBL for the SEQ Stars averaging 10.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. BE Take: Impressive move by Gold Coast. Payne has had imposing seasons with Ipswich and Northside in the QBL and should be expected to have a similar season for Gold Coast. Payne should give them a legitimate scorer and rebounder; adding one of the league best post players. If Gold Coast are able to retain the likes of Biancia Abbott and Brianna Moyes, the addition Payne should turn the Lady Rollers into one of the top teams in the southern groups. That also depends on how Ipswich regroups with Chelsie Schweers and Brandi Brown on the outer, as well as how Brisbane and Logan have improved during the offseason. Overall a strong move by the Lady Rollers.
