Interview with Brisbane Capitals Dusty Rychart
Describe to us, how the game vs Logan went from a team and personal perspective? Took off like a Bat out of Hell! I didn’t expect that kind of start from us. I knew it was going to be a battle but we just exploded from the start and Logan never had a chance. It was a great game to be apart of. Everyone played their role and played with confidence. That’s what you would expect this time of year. How do you prepare yourself heading to this week from a physical and mental standpoint?
You prepare like any game. The moment you start doing something different and out of routine that’s when you start over thinking things. We have a team in Cairns coming in on a high and in good form. We need to be prepared and ready for battle.
How excited are you and your team to host a Grand final, given the dominance of Northern Teams in recent years?
Everyone is excited. This is our 3rd GF in 4 years and to finally host it is something really special. The support by the fans and the club have been amazing and we hope to see that on display this weekend.
This is the third Grand final appearance in four years for the Brisbane Capitals, do you feel any pressure or expectation that you need to win this series?
What’s does pressure feel like?? We all are excited having the opportunity to play in another GF. As a player at any level to get to a GF is special and for us to do it for a 3rd time in 4 years in un heard of. The boys will be focused ready to go to work.
How important is home advantage in a grand final series?
The advantage is the home crowd. They can lift a team when struggling and really push momentum when things are going our way.
You have to guard either Alex Loughton or Cameron Tragardh, what you think will be the key to have a significant advantage in this matchup?
Just pray that they have off nights. Both are great players and competitors.
Does Cairns form during the latter part of the season concern you?
Of Course! they are hot! This is the time of year you want to be rolling and they are definitely doing that.
You just recently turn 38 years old, is it possible this could be your last QBL game this weekend or do you feel u have something left in the tank?
38 and feeling great! I seriously don’t feel 38. The body is holding up well and winning keeps me in the game. I was blessed with a long career and worked hard for it. I will play til the wheels fall off. I’m cherishing every minute as the end is near.
How you predict the grand final will unfold?
The best team will win!
