BE Hypotheticals: QBL Mens All Star Game

StartFragment

So as we head to the annual butt kissing conference, with only one game in Round 5 (Ipswich vs. Brisbane) and in honesty who would want to talk about that game. When u are trying to showcase what you have achieved in the sport in this state what better way to do that with an all star game. However since BQ management display utter lack of innovation or willingness to create some excitement for this league and its fans, we have to live in the hypothetical. The Conditions -Minimum of 2 games played in the 2016 QBL season -North is defined as anything from Gladstone and above. South is defined as anything from Bundaberg and below -Coaches are determined based on best record so far

North

Coach: Rodney Anderson (Townsville)

Point Guard: Josh Wilcher (Townsville) 16.6 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds

Shooting Guard: Mirko Djeric (Townsville) 20.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists

Small Forward: Ray Willis (Gladstone) 31.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists

Power Forward: Auryn Macmillan (Rockhampton) 17.2 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists

Centre: Tom Garlepp (Rockhampton) 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists

Backups

Point Guard: Jordan Gregory (Rockhampton)

Shooting Guard: Jake Allen (Gladstone)

Small Forward: Peter Crawford (Townsville)

Power Forward: Harrison Froling (Townsville) Centre: Marvin Williams (Gladstone) Power Forward / Centre: Luke Brennan (Townsville)

Guard: Anthony Fisher (Cairns)

Honourable Mention: Nick Wiggins (Mackay), Alex Loughton (Cairns), Mitch Philp (Rockhampton), Shaun Bruce (Mackay), TJ Diop (Mackay)

The Gist: Team is heavily dominated by Townsville Heat who have 5 players in the squad. Wilcher and Djeric make a dynamic duo in the backcourt, Wilcher with his all round play and Djeric with his shooting prowess. Early MVP favourite Ray Willis would lead the front with Rockhampton bigs Auryn MacMillan and Tom Garlepp. The bench offers youth (Allen, Fisher, Froling) imports (Gregory, Williams) and veterans (Brennan, Crawford)

South

Coach: Warrick Meehl (Sunshine Coast Phoenix)

Starters

Point Guard: Aaron Anderson (Brisbane): 18.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists

Shooting Guard: Zane Meehl (SC Phoenix) 19.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists

Small Forward: Kurt Thompson (Brisbane): 12.2 points, 6.0 rebounds 3.4 steals

Power Forward: Justin Baker (Logan) 20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists

Centre: Mitch Young (Logan) 25.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists

Backups

Point Guard: Chris Whitehead (Toowoomba)

Shooting Guard: Michael Cedar (Logan)

Small Forward: Jarred Bairstow (SW Metro)

Power Forward: Erron Maxey (Toowoomba)

Centre: Lester Ferguson (SC Phoenix)

Guard: Jorden Page (SC Phoenix) Power Forward / Centre: Willie Shackleford (Bundaberg)

Honourable Mentions: James Legan (Ipswich), Eric McAllister (SC Phoenix), Schreaun King (Bundaberg), Zeke Meehl (SC Phoenix), Jackson Parr (Gold Coast)

The Gist: Got a pair of pocket dynamos in Aaron Anderson and Chris Whitehead so you know this team will be entertaining to watch. They have some quality shooters in Meehl, Cedar and Bairstow. Got a lot of size up front with Baker and Young as your starters and Maxey, Ferguson and Shackleford as your backup

Who would win: While there is a huge gap between the northern and southern QBL team, it looks fairly even when you get all star squads. Both teams possess quality in their starters and bench its extermely hard to make a decision. I rather let the fans let me know who they think would win. But from what i can tell you it would be an amazing game to watch, pity we dont have the people to make it happen.EndFragment
