I wanted to apologise (not for the following article, i stand by what i write, i'm not a faceless ass who hides behind forums) but for the my poor coverage of QBL for this season (I'm not BQ who are happy with laziness and incompetence). My computer has been on the fritz with random screen blackouts and acting crazy (QBL translation... Daniel Sims) for the majority of the season. So i have to rely on dad's computer on limited time which means not the same amount of video highlights and interviews as last year. I'm still waiting on some biatch to give the the authorisation so i can get the crap fixed, hopefully before the start of the playoffs! With that in mind, here is a quick look at some QBL teams prospects for the playoffs.

Townsville

Season Record (9-0)

vs. North (5-0), vs. Central (2-0), vs. South (2-0)

Home Win/Loss (6-0), Away Win/Loss (3-0) Top spot is theirs to lose. They have a comfortable 3 game cushion over Brisbane and Logan for the overall leader and 4 games ahead of Rockhampton for the lead in the north pool. They head to a tricky part of the schedule that includes 5 away game in less than 8 days (Thank the genius at BQ for the wonderful scheduling!). Though Townsville fans would want to see the Heat go through this stretch unscathed, three game road trips are physically tough and having to face a genuine contender in Logan on the Sunday is going to be extra tough. If they can get away with 1 or 2 losses in that stretch it won't be enough for the rest of the league to catch up.

Brisbane Season Record (9-3) vs. North (4-1), vs. Central (4-1), vs. South (1-1) Home Win/Loss (3-2), Away Win/Loss (6-1) That loss to South West will really bit them in the backside, and they wonder why people doubt their inability to close out a home final spot or win a championship. For a team that was favourited for a home grand final is quite conceivable that they might not even end up with a home playoff game. They have a relatively easy schedule for the remainder of the season, but need results to go their way (e.g Townsville beating Logan on Sunday). Depending on how the results go Brisbane need a win over Logan (at least by 18 points in a case of a tie breaker)

Logan Season Record (9-3) vs. North (2-2), vs. Central (5-1), vs. South (2-0) Home Win/Loss (4-1), Away Win/Loss (5-2)

To put it bluntly, home semi final is on the line on Sunday. They take care of Townsville and they have a big advantage over Brisbane for top spot in the central pool and second place overall. They lose and that game vs. Brisbane in Round 14 should provide plenty of fireworks. They have tricky games with SC Phoenix-Clippers and South West that could complicated issue but as long as they take care of business they should have a home semi final, a long way from last year’s fiasco of a season

Rockhampton

Season Record (8-4) vs. North (2-2), vs. Central (3-2), vs. South (3-0) Home Win/Loss (4-1), Away Win/Loss (5-2)

I like this club and i respect the coaching and management staff up in Rocky but i think not having Brad Williamson at some player capacity (p.s i don't buy he needs to be in a starter role, for one bit) is hurting them more than they would want to admit. They have a strong starting five, but their bench is inexperienced and weak (with the exception of the returning Peni Nasalo). Please dont tell me with that starting lineup you expected to be 4 losses at this stage (2 to central team) with another 4 games against Northern teams. You have gone from home semi final certainties to fighting for a playoff spot. Beating Townsville would a boost for their chances. Need to take care of business against Cairns (+7), Mackay (-18) and Gladstone. That Mackay game could be huge for them if they lose their next two games.

South West Season Record (6-5) vs. North (1-3), vs. Central (2-1), vs. South (3-1) Home Win/Loss (3-2), Away Win/Loss (3-3)

The most important thing for South West right is to taking care of their weaker teams on their schedule (2 games against Gold Coast, SC Phoenix and Ipswich). If they can get unscathed in those 4 games, they should have a home playoff game. Round 13 game at Hibiscus against Ipswich will be the key here as they have a 11 point advantage over Ipswich in case of a tie

Mackay Season Record (5-5) vs. North (2-3), vs. Central (2-1), vs. South (1-1) Home Win/Loss (2-3), Away Win/Loss (3-2)

I respect Joel Khalu for everything he has done for me but i feel the defending champions are in a dogfight to even make the playoffs, and a lot of the blame has to fall on Khalu himself. I don't blame him for taking the PNG job (as a guy who is more passionate about South Pacific basketball than QBL i would give up an arm and a leg for opportunity like that), but they needed to be better organised for the transition rather than playing catchup. Not properly replacing Matt Adekponya contributions off the bench didn’t help either. They are 7-6 and Mackay need all four remaining games for wins including Gladstone and Rockhampton, cos right now they could end up anywhere from second in north to out of the playoffs. Outside of Townsville the rest of the north is up for grabs which makes it for some exciting viewing

Cairns Season Record (5-5) vs. North (2-3), vs. Central (2-1), vs. South (1-1) Home Win/Loss (2-3), Away Win/Loss (3-2)

Dear Cairns Taipans

Which of you one imbeciles decided to fire Cam Tragardh from the 2016-17 NBL season?! We have resorted to pin his voodoo doll all season long just to make sure his ailing body is as useless as Ipswich’s is on defence. It was already unfair his playing for one of the most experienced teams around with a coach that actually can coach in this league. How dare you make Trigger angry (or maybe he was already angry given the haircut he has) just about Cairns is about to make a major push for that third spot in the north pool. Just think of the poor club in mackay how they are survived without a home final, time to start a #gofundmeteorsfor2017. And if Cairns end up in the playoff the rest of us will start hyperventilating like a crazy teenager at a One direction concert!

Thanks a bleeping lot, you bastards Rest of QBL team

P.S Schedule appointment with paranormal expert to explain how the hell James Mitchell learned to be good at basketball
