Road to the Playoffs, Mens Scenarios
Situation for first place overall (Brisbane, Logan, South West and Townsville)
Brisbane
Best Case Scenario: They beat Logan and Townsville stumbles in one more game, get opportunity to host home grand final. Worst Case Scenario: Lose to Logan and Toowoomba, Logan loses to SWM and Townsville win out.
Brisbane would end up second in Central pool and not have a home playoff game. They dont have the spilt over Towsnville and unless Townsville loses again its unlikely that Brisbane can get first overall. They need to beat Logan to assure themselves of at least a home semi-final. If they don't, they better hope Logan can win out the rest of their game so they can get a easier path to the Semi-Finals (hosting SC Phoenix / SC Rip, as opposed to playing SW Metro at Hibiscus)
Logan
Best Case Scenario: Beat Toowoomba, Brisbane, SWM and get first place Worst Case Scenario: Lose to Brisbane, Townsville gets first overall and Logan don't have a home playoff
Its Logan home final to lose, they need to take care of business of Brisbane on Saturday and SWM on the final regular season game. If they win out, they have the split over Townsville; if they lose they are most likely going to face SWM at Hibiscus (unless Brisbane get top spot overall, where Logan will face one out of SC Phoenix / SC Rip)
Townsville
Best Case Scenario: Win out their remaining games and Brisbane beat Logan; Townsville host grand final Worst Case Scenario: Brisbane get overall first and they are on equal wins with Logan (Logan has the spilt) .
Townsville would only have home quarter final (vs. one out of Rockhampton / Mackay / Cairns)
Cairns didn't play according to script and Townsville are in serious trouble to get first place (what a difference that 5 game road schedule makes) They need Brisbane to beat Logan to salvage any hope of a home grand final. They are assure of a home quarter final and could get a home semi final if Logan get first place.
South West Metro
Best Case Scenario: Beat Gold Coast and Logan and are equal and first place is on 12 wins (they have the split vs. Brisbane, Townsville and Logan), they would host grand final Worst Case Scenario: Lose out and still have a home quarter final against the loser of the Logan / Brisbane game
They need a lot of things to go together to get a home grand / semi finals (those losses to SC Rip and Gold Coast are starting to bite in the backside). Could throw a spanner in the works for Logan in the final round.
Fight for second/third place in the North
Rockhampton, Mackay and Cairns
All teams are at 9 wins. Assume Cairns ends up in 11 wins given their easier schedule (SC Rip /Bundaberg). So it all boils downs to the Rockhampton/Mackay game and who has the split over Cairns. If Rockhampton wins, they get second place with Cairns in third place. If Mackay win, Cairns gets second with Mackay in third place. Get
Fight for second place in South Ipswich and Gold Coast
Gold Coast should have taken that win over SC Rip and to have any hope of playoffs will need to win out their rest of their games while Ipswich loses theirs. Ipswich need to win one of their last three (most likely the game at home vs Sunshine Coast Phoenix) to virtually assure themselves of second spot
Fight for third place in Central Sunshine Coast Phoenix Clippers and Sunshine Coast Rip
Both teams will be hoping that Logan can beat Brisbane and South West in order to remain in the playoffs contention. SC Phoenix have the advantage in the split and only need one win from either Ipswich or Gladstone games. SC Rip would need to win out including the FNQ road trip and Gladstone at home.
